The advertising and media industries have long been lacking in diversity and representation — for both color and women. Join Sheryl Goldstein, Executive Vice President, Chief Industry Growth Officer, and special guests Jasmine Cogdell, Patrice Drew, and Stephanie Lawrence, as they come together to discuss their personal experiences, how things have changed since they first started and, what it means to be a Black Woman in Advertising & Media.
Patrice Drew is a VP, Global Client Partner at Matterkind, the addressable media buying and strategy arm of IPG’s Data & Marketing Intelligence Engine, Kinesso. She has over a decade experience in media, specializing in digital, mobile, TV, and print data collection and analysis. She is a media strategist by trade who previously spent time scaling data and brand monetization efforts for such notable companies as Hearst, Meredith Corporation, and The New York Times. She credits her conscientious nature and curiosity with her career success.
As a private citizen, she is passionate about serving underrepresented groups. She’s an active member and national co-chair of Kinesso’s diversity and inclusion initiative, IMPACT, and volunteers with the organization God’s Love We Deliver.
Patrice earned her B.S. in Marketing and Spanish B.S. from New York University. She counts her music collection as one of her most prized possessions and enjoys writing, traveling and karaoke.
Sheryl Goldstein is the Executive Vice President, Chief Industry Growth Officer at the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau). In her role, she oversees engaging the IAB’s 650+ members across all of the IAB’s vast initiatives, activities and thought leadership programs. Under Sheryl’s watch are the Member Engagement, Centers of Excellence, Research and L&D teams. She also spearheads talent development, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and runs the IAB CRO Council.
Sheryl Goldstein is a “net vet” with over 20 years of driving meaningful revenue growth through consultative selling in the dynamic digital landscape (Yahoo, AOL, About.com). She is adept at building successful teams, developing go-to-market strategies and gaining consensus across key stakeholders. Her background includes a wide variety of digital media platforms and technologies and numerous leadership roles.
In addition to her experience as a sales leader, Sheryl brings years of talent development and training to her role and is committed to making the digital media landscape a great industry for diverse talent to thrive and have a long and exciting career.
Sheryl is a current board member for 212NYC, Makers and was a past Board member of She Runs It. She serves on the Rutgers Business School Advisory Board for Marketing and is helping RBS craft a digital marketing graduate program. In addition, she has served on Boards and Committees for the NY Ad Club, Women in Communications, Inc. and the IAB and is a member of Chief. She is an award-winning sales leader (Yahoo Accelerator Award, AOL Best Media Partner presented by Verizon, AOL Presidents Club, AWNY Crystal Award Winner).
Sheryl is a graduate of Syracuse University Newhouse School and lives in New Jersey with her partner Cindy and dogs Pancho and Camden. On the weekends, you can catch her on the pickleball court or riding around the Jersey Shore on her new electric bike. Her daughter Sarah-Jaana lives in the Boston area with her husband Michael.
Stephanie Lawrence is the Client Partner, CPG Lead at Nextdoor. She is directly responsible for helping build out CPG partnerships on the platform. Since joining the team in April of 2020, she has been directly responsible for driving 400% of CPG revenue growth YoY. Stephanie will begin a new role as Head of Agency Development at Nextdoor starting January 2022. Before joining Nextdoor, Stephanie built out and led Customer Success at Brand Networks, an Ad Tech firm focused on optimizing paid and owned content on social platforms. In addition, she led a team of social strategists at Viacom within their Partner, Platforms & Products division. Prior to that, she spent 15 years on the agency side at Starcom MediaVest, MEC and Optimedia where she ran digital for P&G, Macy’s, Sanofi among others. Stephanie started her career in digital sales for Citysearch! All of these experiences have helped to round out her knowledge of the digital media landscape.
